O Antiphons, part III
Today's antiphon is O Radix Jesse.
Latin:
O Radix Jesse,
qui stas in signum populorum,
super quem continebunt reges os suum,
quem gentes deprecabuntur:
veni ad liberandum nos,
jam noli tardare.
English translation:
O Root of Jesse,
who stands as a sign for the people,
kings stand silent in your presence,
whom the nations will worship:
come to set us free,
put it off no longer.

English paraphrase from "O Come, O Come Emmanuel":
O Come, O Rod of Jesse's stem,
From ev'ry foe deliver them
That trust your mighty pow'r to save,
And give them victory o'er the grave.
